While the ZX-6R’s has a smaller engine, it produces more power and revs higher than the Ninja 1000’s motor; suiting perfectly with its track bike character. Meanwhile, the Ninja 1000 offers mid-range power and torque for better cruising abilities and efficiency.
If you maintain it not religiously but adhere to the must do practices (i.e., oil / filter changes, valve adjustments, air filter clean / change / re-oil) every 3,000 / 12,000 / 5,000ish miles (service mileage estimates simply my opinion) any modern sportbike engine can and will last well over 100,000 miles.

The Ninja 1000 engine is geared to low-end and mid-range torque at the expense of peak power, making it an outstanding engine for the street.
