I can only find ratios for the 2007 yz250 so I have to assume the trans has not been changed between then and 2009. So, your current gearing gets you about 66.6 mph top speed. If you went to the stock gearing of 14/50 you would get about 70.3 mph and 14/47 would give you about 74.8 mph.
The cool thing about the bike is that it gets up to about 60 mph super quick!

The YZ250 is a 2 stroke dirt bike and the YZ250F is a 4 stroke dirt bike. Both Yamaha 250’s are motocross bikes, but they’re quite different in how they ride because of the engine and chassis differences.
Powering this Japanese motorcycle is a liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve, 250cc four-stroke engine. We ran the YZ250F on our rear-wheel dyno to determine peak output from Yamaha’s 250 four-stroke motocross bike. We documented 38.2 hp at 12,500 rpm and 18.5 pound-feet of torque at 8,500 rpm.
KTM 450 SX-F The overall fastest dirt bike on our list remains the KTM 450 SX-F. It’s no surprise that KTM would produce such a dirt bike since they’re well known for having high standards for speed. The 450 SX-F offers both substantial power and user-friendly handling for experienced riders looking for a fast ride.
The Honda CRF 450R is a legendary model in motocross, even though it is not the fastest on this list. It tops at 87 mph (142km/h), which is not too shabby.
YES, a 250f would be a good beginner bike.
5-speed YAMAHA YZ250F 2005 – 2006 However, this quarter-liter bike is nothing like a tame beast: it packs more power than meets the eye, and thanks to its 5-speed transmission, there’s also torque on tap for fast starts on the dirt track and confident uphill strides on forest trails.
Speed-wise, leading 250cc two-stroke dirt bikes can hit 70-85mph under favorable conditions. On the other hand, most 4-stroke options have a top speed of about 70-80mph.
It may be a race bike, but it is an easy bike to ride with great handling and power. You can ride it as slow as you want or as fast as it can go. Just take it easy until you learn how to ride in the dirt and you can’t go wrong with that bike. You’ll never need to upgrade to anything else.
